Année épigraphique Library – Pflaum Collection

> About

The Année épigraphique Library – Pflaum Collection contains a specialized collection of resources for Greek and Latin epigraphy and ancient history. It is a precious, virtually unique resource for Roman epigraphy, particularly on account of its policy of acquiring books that are rare or unavailable in other Parisian libraries.

History

The Library consists of a combination of two collections, one old and one new.
The old collection consisted of the library of Hans-Georg Pflaum, French epigrapher and Roman historian (1902-1979). It was acquired by the French state in 1981 after the death of this great scholar. The new collection has grown continually since 1981 from gifts, exchanges, and purchases.
The books are arranged thematically, using the system of the Library of the Sorbonne at the time when the Pflaum Collection was constituted.
First attached to a research center of the CNRS, USR 710 “L’Année épigraphique” (until December 31, 2013), the library was then integrated into UMR 8210 ANHIMA from January 1, 2014.

The collections

The library gives readers access to nearly 10,000 books and more than 7,500 offprints.
